John Wayne Airport has released its monthly statistics for December 2024, showing a 7.4% increase in total passengers compared to the same month last year. The airport served 941,651 passengers in December 2024, up from 876,398 in December 2023. However, the year-to-date figures indicate a decrease of 5.6%, with a total of 11,089,405 passengers in 2024 compared to 11,741,325 in the previous year.

The number of enplaned passengers rose by 6.5% from December 2023 to December 2024, totaling 464,825 for the month. Deplaned passengers saw an even larger increase of 8.4%, reaching a total of 476,826.

Total aircraft operations at John Wayne Airport increased significantly by 29.6% for December year-over-year. General aviation operations experienced a notable rise of 45.3%. Commercial operations showed a slight increase of just over one percent.

Commuter aircraft operations rose by over eighteen percent while military operations decreased by nearly thirty-two percent compared to last year’s figures for December.

Air cargo tonnage saw a decline of nearly nineteen percent when comparing December's numbers between years and fell by almost eight percent on a yearly basis.

International passenger statistics revealed an increase of approximately thirty-five percent in both enplaned and deplaned travelers during the month but remained relatively stable throughout the year overall.

All-cargo carriers handled around one thousand two hundred tons while passenger carriers managed seventy-four tons incidental belly cargo based on November's data included within this report covering all Canada and Mexico commercial activities as part of these totals.
