Borussia Dortmund has introduced a new team airbus to accompany the team on their away matches. The Eurowings Airbus A320, designated ‘D-AEWM’, was unveiled at Münster/Osnabrück Airport. This aircraft features a distinctive matt varnish with the ‘BVB09’ lettering, marking its first use in civil aviation. BVB fans had the opportunity to view the new design during a launch event and subsequently flew to Dortmund on the freshly painted aircraft, which received a water salute from the airport fire brigade.

The previous version of the team airbus gained significant attention since its debut in 2016, becoming one of Europe's most photographed aircraft due to its striking black and yellow design. In 2022, Eurowings made history by dedicating an aircraft specifically for football fans, involving BVB supporters in designing what is known as the ‘Fan Airbus’.

Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof commented, “We are proud that BVB and we are among the most emotional and popular brands in our respective industries. Together we share a team spirit and the sporting ambition to be among the best. We are therefore delighted to be able to continue to support and inspire Borussia Dortmund in the new team airbus with a state-of-the-art design.”

BVB Managing Director Carsten Cramer added, “The new team airbus will not only inspire our team but above all the fans and will once again be an eye-catcher at airports throughout Europe. We are not only taking on a pioneering role in terms of design but also in terms of sustainability: we are the first club in the Bundesliga to promote innovative fuel technologies and reduce our CO2 emissions on domestic flights by using 100 per cent SAF.”
