Washington Dulles International Airport | Wikipedia

Washington Dulles International Airport, located 26 miles west of Washington D.C., is a significant international gateway on the East Coast. The airport handles over 90% of the international traffic originating from the Baltimore-Washington area and offers nonstop service to more than 135 global destinations.

United Airlines is the largest carrier at Washington Dulles, holding a market share of 70.42%. United has played a crucial role in developing the airport's international network since establishing a hub there in 1986. The airline operates dozens of daily flights from Concourses C and D, which are exclusively used by United. "The carrier has solidified itself as the market leader in Washington D.C.," maintaining its market share over the last decade.

Delta Air Lines holds the second-largest market share at 5.12%. Although historically a minor player at Dulles, Delta connects the airport to major hubs across the U.S., including Atlanta, Salt Lake City, and Seattle/Tacoma. Delta operates from Concourses A and B but does not have its own lounge at Dulles.

American Airlines has a market share of 3.44% at Washington Dulles, despite having a larger presence at Reagan National Airport. American focuses on key domestic routes to connect with its global network, operating flights to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Southwest Airlines holds a market share of 2.05%, operating two routes from Dulles to Denver and Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airports since 2006. Southwest's limited presence is due to its larger operations at Baltimore/Washington International.

Alaska Airlines also has a market share of 2.05%, flying to four destinations: Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Seattle/Tacoma from Washington Dulles.

There may be changes in these rankings as Allegiant Air and Frontier Airlines plan to launch new routes from Washington Dulles this year.
