American Airlines Boeing 777-300ER | Simple Flying

American Airlines has announced the addition of daily Boeing 777-300ER flights between New York and Miami for May. This move will provide passengers with more travel options between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Miami International Airport (MIA).

According to Cirium's Diio Mi airline planning tool, these widebody aircraft flights are scheduled exclusively for May 2025. In April, American Airlines had planned to operate its Boeing 737-800 and 737 MAX 8s for multiple weekly itineraries between JFK and Miami.

Comparatively, in May 2024, the airline operated two weekly flights with the Airbus A319ceo and several with the 737-800 and 737 MAX 8 aircraft, offering a total of 9,544 weekly seats on this route. For May 2025, the airline is removing some flights while adding daily Boeing 777-300ER services. As a result, despite maintaining the same number of weekly flights, seat capacity could increase by up to 10.6% year-on-year.

The new JFK-Miami route replaces flight AA313 from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Miami that used the same aircraft type in May last year. Los Angeles will see a reduction in widebody flights except for one remaining domestic flight to Dallas/Fort Worth using a Boeing 777-200.

American Airlines is also planning additional widebody domestic flights within the US. The schedule includes daily routes between Chicago and Miami, as well as an extra daily widebody service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Philadelphia.

Additionally, changes are being made to flights connecting Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami. The double-daily widebody services are being replaced by single daily operations using smaller aircraft such as the A321ceo, A321neo, and various Boeing models.
