Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has introduced its Collaborative Shipping tool in Korea, aimed at improving the import process for customers. This digital tool is available to FedEx import customers across Asia Pacific, Europe, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa. It facilitates collaboration between importers and shippers during Air Waybill (AWB) creation, enhancing efficiency in global goods movement.

The introduction of this tool comes as global merchandise trade is expected to rise by 3%, with imports in Asia projected to grow by 5.1% in 2025. A study by the International Trade Centre highlights that failed pickups and lack of shipment visibility are significant challenges for importers worldwide. These issues impact business operations and emphasize the need for digital solutions like the Collaborative Shipping tool.

The new shipping tool allows importers to share AWB creation with shippers, enabling confirmation of shipment details and scheduling pickups based on readiness. This feature aims to improve pickup success rates and efficiency in the import journey.

“As global supply chains grow increasingly complex, businesses must adopt smarter logistics solutions to remain competitive,” said Salil Chari, senior vice president of Marketing and Customer Experience at FedEx Asia Pacific. “At FedEx, we’re leading the way by leveraging digital innovation to help our customers anticipate challenges and navigate the changing marketplace."

Key benefits of the Collaborative Shipping Tool include seamless collaboration and enhanced flexibility for importers sharing AWB creation with shippers; improved visibility providing real-time insights into pickups; and an enhanced user experience making imports easier for both parties.

“At FedEx, our customers are at the core of everything we do," said Wonbin Park, managing director of FedEx Korea. "The introduction of the FedEx Collaborative Shipping Tool exemplifies our dedication to simplifying and streamlining our customers’ business operations.”

This initiative complements other digital solutions from FedEx like the Import Tool, which offers a comprehensive suite for managing import shipments. Together these innovations underscore FedEx's commitment to enhancing customer experiences and logistics efficiency.
