Canada will soon host two Airbus A380 operators for the first time in three years. Currently, only Emirates uses the superjumbo to Canada. However, this will change on June 24 when Etihad Airways deploys the A380 to Toronto. This marks the first occasion Canada's busiest airport has had more than one A380 operator.

Etihad will cease its US A380 flights in favor of Canada, a move unprecedented by any airline. The company anticipates better performance in Canada, perhaps due to less competition and some airlines' inability to expand through higher frequencies.

Toronto has only had one A380 user until now

According to Cirium Diio data, Canada welcomed its first double-decker quadjet flight on June 1, 2009. Emirates was the inaugural A380 carrier in Canada, operating from Dubai to Toronto and replacing the Boeing 777-300ER with significant additional capacity including premium seats.

Emirates has flown the A380 to Toronto almost exclusively since then, except for a few months during the pandemic. Initially permitted three weekly flights, frequencies rose to five weekly flights in 2018 and finally daily in 2023.

Air France was the second airline to fly the A380 to Canada. It operated a one- off service from Paris CDG to Montreal on October 7, 2010, celebrating six decades of flying to Canada. Regular service began on April , but ended by October

BAs have seats nearly quarter premium cabins first class seats business Unsurprisingly they more those two variants fleet This dictates where they ve high capacity markets Between May September type replaced seat during summer providing more all important peak period Vancouver demand returned winter helping balance ensuring higher yields loads off season No other carrier flown Vancouver since ended such flights Will airport see equipment again unlikely
