Air Europa expands South American network with long-haul Boeing 787 routes
Policy

Air Europa has expanded to become Spain's third-largest airline, operating an extensive short and long-haul network from its base at Madrid Barajas Airport (MAD). The carrier operates an all-Boeing fleet, including the Boeing 737-800 and the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The airline currently fields two Dreamliner variants: the 787-8 and the 787-9, with a fleet of ten 787-8s and fifteen 787-9s. The first of these aircraft joined Air Europa's roster in 2016 and 2018 respectively. This year, three additional planes are expected to be delivered.

Air Europa's Dreamliners primarily serve its South American routes, including destinations such as Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. These flights often exceed distances of over \[5,000\] nautical miles (NM), translating into flight times surpassing twelve hours.

Most Air Europa flights on the Dreamliner offer both business and economy classes. However, select routes like San Pedro Sula and Santa Cruz feature a 'Premium Cabin' instead. According to aviation analytics company Cirium, here are Air Europa's longest Dreamliner routes this year:

11. Panama City (PTY) - \[4,409\] NM

Both variants operate this route from Madrid to Tocumen International Airport. From May onwards it will exclusively be serviced by the larger model.
