Our experience flying TAP Air Portugal's Business Class on the Embraer E190 provided insights into the unique offerings of this smaller aircraft. The trip to Lisbon in mid-February for Amadeus’ Altitude25 conference began at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

Upon arrival at the airport, it was noted that TAP Air Portugal had delayed the flight by just over an hour from its original departure time of 17:50 to 19:00. After obtaining a printed boarding pass due to a low phone battery, passage through fast-track security led to Terminal 1's departures hall.

The Library Lounge offered a somewhat crowded environment with limited food options; however, coffee and snacks were available. Following approximately an hour and a half of work in the lounge, it was time to proceed to the gate.

Boarding last revealed the compact nature of the Embraer E190. Although there was no immediate space for larger cabin bags in business class, crew members assisted in finding alternative storage solutions. The seats proved comfortable with large windows and convenient tray tables.

Takeoff occurred around 19:00. The difference between flying on an Airbus A320 versus an Embraer E190 became apparent during takeoff due to increased bumpiness.

Meal service commenced shortly after reaching cruising altitude. Despite some language barriers with primarily Portuguese-speaking crew members, meal orders were taken efficiently. The main course included an unidentified seafood dish accompanied by bread and drinks upon request. A pastel de nata dessert added a touch of Lisbon’s culinary culture.

Overall, this journey aboard TAP Air Portugal's Business Class on a shorter flight operated by Portugalia highlighted both positive aspects such as tasty meals and comfortable seating alongside challenges like language barriers with crew members.
