Qatar Airways Boeing 777 | Qatar Airways

On March 4, 2025, a Qatar Airways Boeing 777 operating a flight from Doha to Chicago diverted to Oslo due to an onboard emergency. The aircraft remained in the Norwegian capital for nearly two hours but is back on its way to Chicago.

The flight affected was QR725, a regularly scheduled flight from Doha Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). As seen on Flightradar24, the flight departed Doha at 08:25 and was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 14:30 local time. However, while preparing to cross the Atlantic, the crew was forced to divert to Oslo Airport.

According to AIRLIVE, the aircraft was cruising at 32,000 feet over Northern Europe when the crew squawked 7700, signaling a general emergency. A young woman was reportedly suffering from low oxygen levels, prompting the pilots to request paramedics upon arrival. The cabin crew managed to provide external oxygen for her during the flight.

Flight QR725 landed safely in Oslo at about 14:07 local time. It departed Oslo at 15:52 and is estimated to arrive in Chicago at 17:48 (at the time of publishing). The woman's status is currently unknown. Simple Flying reached out to Qatar Airways for comment but did not receive an immediate response.

Later that day, Qatar Airways provided a statement:
