Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has reported an operating result of CHF 684 million for the 2024 financial year, marking its second-best annual earnings in corporate history. The company's total revenues for the year reached CHF 5.6 billion, a six percent increase from 2023 and a new record high. SWISS also welcomed approximately 18 million travelers aboard last year, representing a 9.2 percent increase over the prior-year period.

"As our 2024 results clearly confirm, our company is strong, stable and financially sound," said SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger. "This highly favorable operating result is the product of superb teamwork by all our employees. "

The airline's profitability remains solid with an Adjusted EBIT margin of 12.1 percent for the year. However, this figure represents a decline of 1.4 percentage points compared to the previous year.

"Our strong earnings benefit our customers too," Fehlinger added. "We'll be investing some CHF 1 billion annually over the next five years in providing a top-notch air travel experience both in the air and on the ground while also investing in sustainability. "

SWISS operated over nine percent more flights in 2024 than in the previous year and transported more passengers overall. Despite challenges such as air traffic control resource shortages and geopolitical developments, average punctuality improved to65 per cent , up four percentage points from last year.

"Our various actions to raise our punctuality and reduce irregularities are showing their first successes," said SWISS Chief Operating Officer Oliver Buchhofer. "At the same time, we still had too many disruptions over course of last year. "
