ITA Airways announced that Catania Airport has resumed operations following its closure due to volcanic activity from Mount Etna. The airline shared this information in a post on X on February 17.

According to the Catania Airport official X account, the region was prompted to evacuate after an eruption from Mount Etna, which resulted in disruptions to air traffic. The airport, a crucial hub for travel in Sicily, had suspended operations as authorities assessed the impact of volcanic ash on flights.

Despite the reopening, ITA Airways warned that flight schedules may still experience delays. The airline advised passengers to check their flight status through its website and mobile app before heading to the airport.
