Nelson Pedro Rodrigues de Oliveira, CEO of TAAG Angola Airlines, announced the airline’s receipt of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, describing it as a "pivotal step" in their modernization strategy. The statement was made on January 31, as the aircraft arrived in Luanda, Angola.

"The 787-9 is a pivotal step in our strategy to modernize our fleet," said Pedro Rodrigues de Oliveira. "The addition of the Dreamliner, recognized for its advanced technology and up to 25% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions."

According to the Boeing website, the 787-9 Dreamliner, leased from AerCap, is the first of four aircraft ordered by TAAG Angola Airlines and is expected to enhance the carrier’s long-haul operations. The fuel-efficient widebody jet will allow the airline to expand its European routes and explore new opportunities in Asia and North America, improving connectivity for passengers and cargo.

To further its sustainability efforts, TAAG Angola Airlines is collaborating with Boeing on a CO2 emissions reduction initiative linked to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Through the book-and-claim system, TAAG’s SAF purchase will support emissions reductions at airports worldwide.
