ANA Boeing 787 | ANA Japan

All Nippon Airways (ANA) Holdings has announced plans to purchase up to 77 aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer. This move aims to support long-term growth and adapt to changing demand in both domestic and international markets. The airline shared this decision on its website on February 25.

According to the ANA Holdings website, the aircraft are valued at approximately $14.41 billion. The purchase includes 18 Boeing 787-9s, intended to accommodate expected increases in travel between Asia and North America. Additionally, the company plans to acquire up to 20 Embraer E190-E2s for domestic routes, with a focus on fuel efficiency. The remaining orders will primarily serve as fleet replacements.

The total cost of the aircraft order is estimated at 2.158 trillion yen ($14.41 billion). ANA reported that deliveries are scheduled to be completed by around 2033, reflecting the airline's strategy to expand and modernize its fleet for sustained operations.

By 2030, ANA projects its fleet will reach approximately 320 aircraft, aligning with its broader international expansion plans. The airline had previously limited fleet renewals during the pandemic, making this a significant step toward future capacity growth.

Japan has seen a surge in international visitors, with foreign arrivals rising by 47% to a record 36.9 million in 2024, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization. This increase in travel demand has contributed to ANA’s decision to expand its fleet.

ANA Holdings is a Japanese airline group that operates All Nippon Airways, one of the country’s largest carriers. According to its website, the company provides both domestic and international air travel and has been expanding its operations to meet evolving market needs.
