If your TSA PreCheck isn’t showing up on your boarding pass, there are several steps you can take to resolve the issue and avoid longer security lines.

First, ensure that your Known Traveler Number (KTN) is correctly added to your frequent flyer profile. "After receiving your KTN or when flying a new airline, immediately add it to your frequent flyer profile so it automatically populates into the correct field when booking flights," advises the article.

Next, check for any discrepancies between the name on your ID and your boarding pass. "Any typographical discrepancies... may cause security to note the discrepancy and flag your boarding pass for closer scrutiny," the article warns.

Additionally, verify that your TSA PreCheck membership has not expired. The membership is valid for five years and can be renewed up to six months before expiration. Renewal costs vary by provider: $78 through Idemia, $85 through Telos, and $77.95 through Clear.

If you encounter Secondary Security Screening Selection (SSSS), an arbitrary measure selecting certain travelers for additional inspection, know that this will likely prevent you from using TSA PreCheck lanes. "If this circumstance befalls you, there's nothing you can do other than get to the airport earlier," says the article.

Lastly, remember that TSA PreCheck is not guaranteed every time you travel. "TSA uses unpredictable security measures... no individual is guaranteed expedited screening," according to TSA.

In summary, ensure all information is correctly entered in advance and check for any potential issues with names or expiration dates. If problems persist at the airport, visit the airline check-in counter to have them add your KTN to your itinerary.
