The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card has proven to be a favorite travel companion for many, including the author of a recent article on The Points Guy website. Attracted by its generous welcome offer and robust earning rates of at least 2 miles per dollar spent on every purchase, the card has remained a go-to choice even into the second year of use.

After a meeting with TPG's newsletter team in Savannah, Georgia, the author decided to take advantage of some free time and escape to Grenada instead of returning home to London. The goal was to keep costs down while maximizing the perks offered by the Venture X card.

One significant benefit utilized during this trip was the $300 annual travel credit toward bookings made through the Capital One Travel portal. This helped offset the cost of an American Airlines flight from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Grenada's Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND).

For accommodations, there was an attempt to redeem World of Hyatt points; however, options were limited. Instead, a more affordable independent property near Grand Anse Beach was booked through Capital One Travel for $150 per night. Applying part of the annual travel credit covered one full night and partially paid for another.

The card also provides 10,000 anniversary miles each year. These miles covered most of a JetBlue flight from Grenada to New York City—a necessary leg before heading back to London—and earned additional miles on remaining expenses.

Rental car benefits included earning miles on bookings and enjoying insurance coverage without needing separate policies—a saving grace that trimmed extra costs significantly.

Lounge access is another perk that came in handy during this journey. Although Priority Pass lounge options were limited in some locations, they did provide comfortable spots for relaxation before flights at no additional cost.

An unexpected benefit discovered during planning was Global Entry eligibility for Australian passport holders. The application fee was fully credited back after being paid with the Venture X card.

In conclusion, despite not being a new cardholder anymore—thus ineligible for certain bonuses—the author managed to extract substantial value from just one weekend getaway using various perks associated with the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.
