Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Air India, said that women leading at Air India is the norm rather than the exception, emphasizing India's global leadership in female commercial pilots. Wilson made his statement in a March 8 press release.

"At Air India group, we take pride in the fact that women leading from the front is a norm rather than an exception," said Wilson. "India leads the world in the number of women commercial pilots and Air India group is significantly contributing to this achievement."

In a press release, Air India Group announced its celebration of International Women’s Day 2025 by underscoring its commitment to workplace inclusivity and diversity. The airline operated special flights with all-women crews to demonstrate its support for gender equality in aviation. This initiative aligns with the Tata Group’s broader efforts to create an equitable environment for employees. Through these actions, Air India continues to contribute to India's leadership in female representation within the aviation industry.

The airline has also increased female representation in ground services (21%), finance (27%), and digital and technology roles (22%) since its return to the Tata Group.

Times Aerospace reported that as part of its commitment to advancing women in aviation, Air India signed onto the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) #25by2025 initiative, which aims to increase the number of women in mid and senior-level positions. The airline also launched the #HerMatters initiative, providing support for women employees navigating career transitions such as maternity leave and leadership development.
