HK Express has scheduled an overnight flight between Hong Kong and Bangkok, Thailand, adding a fifth daily flight on a route serviced by multiple airlines with daily flights.

As flagged by AeroRoutes, HK Express added a fifth daily flight from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), increasing departures on an already busy air corridor.

The fifth daily departure will be operated between June 29 and August 30. The low-cost carrier’s Airbus A321 aircraft will depart Hong Kong at 22:05 local time (UTC +8) and arrive in Bangkok at 00:05 local time (UTC +7) on flight UO710. On the return journey, the aircraft will depart Bangkok at 00:55 and land in Hong Kong at 04:55 on flight UO711.

Other HK Express flights from Hong Kong to Bangkok depart between 13:30 and 16:55, while the return departures typically leave the Thai city between 10:25 and 19:45.

The scheduled block time of the itinerary is three hours, according to data from aviation analytics company Cirium’s Diio Mi airline planning tool.

Cirium’s Diio Mi showed that there are164 weekly departures from Hong Kong to Bangkok in June, or15 more than during the same month in2024. Other airlines operating the route include Cathay Pacific(50 weekly departures), Hong Kong Airlines(33 weekly departures), Thai International Airways(THAI,28 weekly departures), Greater Bay Airlines(15 weekly departures), Emirates(fifth- freedom flight,daily departures), and Ethiopian Airlines(fifth-freedom flight, three weekly departures).

Emirates has a fifth-freedom flight that goes from Dubai to Bangkok and then to Hong Kong before returning to Bangkok and then to Dubai on flight EK384/EK385. Meanwhile, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET608 originates at Addis Ababa Bole Airport(ADD), flies to Bangkok, and then goes to Hong Kong. From there, flight ET609 returns to Bangkok and then flies backto Ethiopia.

The travel data company OAG said that in2024,the air corridor betweenBangkokandHongKongwasoneofthebusies tinternationalroutesintheworld.FlightsfromtheThaicitytotheSpecialAdministrativeRegion(SAR)had4 .2millionseatsthroughouttheyear,makingittheseventh-busies trouteglobally.Incomparison,thebusies tinternationalroute ,fromHongKongtoTaiwanTaoyuanInternationalAirport(TPE),had6 .7millionseatsin2024 ,accordingtoOAG.
