Delta Air Lines marked a significant milestone in March, celebrating its 100th anniversary as the first U.S. airline to reach this landmark. The Atlanta-based carrier, which began operations as Huff Daland Dusters in March 1925, commemorated the occasion with a special Centennial livery.
"Since then, we''ve grown into an industry-leading premium brand and global airline that continues to thrive," said Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta, on LinkedIn. "It''s all possible because of the incredible 100,000 people who make Delta the very best. "
The anniversary was celebrated with a gala event in Atlanta on March 15, where an Airbus A321neo featuring the new blue-and-silver design was unveiled. The commemorative paint scheme will also be added to an Airbus A350 wide-body jet later this spring. The livery was designed by Delta employee Aaliyah McNeal.
