German leisure airline Condor has announced changes to its peak summer season schedule, marking a return to several U.S. destinations following a network restructuring earlier this year.

The decision comes after Lufthansa was no longer bound by a Special Prorate Agreement in December, which had provided feeder traffic to Condor’s long-haul network. Without Lufthansa’s short and medium-haul connections, many of Condor’s long-haul destinations became untenable.

Condor has since strengthened its European network to ensure self-sufficiency in terms of feeder traffic, enabling it to revisit key American and Canadian leisure markets this summer.

Condor's long-haul flights will be operated by its fleet of Airbus A330neos. According to Ch-aviation data, the carrier has 18 A330neos in service with an additional three on order. Each aircraft is configured with 310 seats, including 216 in economy class.

This summer, Condor will operate flights to the following U.S. destinations:

DestinationHighest frequency
New York JFK Airport (JFK)Daily
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)Daily
Miami International Airport (MIA)4x weekly
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)Daily
San Francisco International Airport (SFO)Daily
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)Daily
Portland International Airport (PDX)3x weekly
Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS)3x weekly
Anchorage International Airport (ANC)3x weekly
In Canada, the airline will offer daily service to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Flights to Calgary International Airport (YYC) will operate thrice weekly using an Airbus A330neo.

Mikko Turtiainen, Condor's Director of Sales for the Americas, said: “More and more American and Canadian travelers have discovered Condor as an attractive alternative for travel to Europe with more affordable airfares – up to 50 percent less than the competition -- combined with the comfort and reliability of our all-new A330neo fleet and attentive service.

"This summer we are thrilled to up our daily seasonal service to more of the top transatlantic gateways in the U.S. and Canada and extremely excited to add our own connecting service throughout Europe -- making Condor an even more attractive option for travelers across the U.S. and Canada. ”

During the current 2024-2025 winter season, Condor has been operating flights to JFK, MIA, SEA, and YYZ at reduced frequencies compared to plans for this summer.

Data from aviation analytics firm Cirium indicates that Condor's overall U.S. and Canada network from Frankfurt has shrunk by 13% in terms of seat capacity and number of flights compared to last summer. Excess capacity from route cuts has allowed Condor to consolidate its network towards more popular destinations in these regions. Overall capacity is up by 40% on flights to Calgary; Miami sees a30% increase; Boston experiences a25% rise; while Vancouver records a17% boost.

Lufthansa's suspension of feeder traffic obligations due European Union anti- trust concerns played as significant roleinthis development. The European Commission argued earlier this year that Lufthansa should continue honoringthe SPAduetocompetition concerns.However,Lufthansahasrefused,citingthatitisno- longer necessary.
