Emirates is marking a quarter-century of service to Sydney, celebrating its inaugural flight to the city in March 2000. The airline, known as the largest international carrier globally, began with four weekly flights via Singapore and has since expanded to offer three daily direct flights connecting Sydney and Dubai.

Throughout these years, Emirates has transported over nine million passengers on more than 35,000 flights between Sydney and various global destinations. The airline's fleet of A380 aircraft operates these routes, linking travelers to cities such as London, Manchester, Barcelona, and more.

A significant milestone in Emirates' history was the launch of its service between Dubai and Christchurch via Sydney in August 2003. This route eventually saw the introduction of the A380 in October 2016. In February 2006, Emirates opened a lounge at Sydney Airport for First Class and Business Class passengers.

In 2022, Emirates introduced its new Premium Economy cabin on refurbished A380s in Sydney as part of a multi-billion dollar retrofit program. By 2023, all services were upgraded to an all-A380 operation offering over 20,300 weekly seats between Sydney and Dubai.

The airline also collaborated with Sydney Airport to provide Premium Check-In services for First Class passengers. Beyond aviation services, Emirates supports local culture through partnerships like that with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 2002.

Barry Brown, Divisional Vice President Australasia at Emirates remarked on the significance of Sydney as a destination: “Sydney is such an iconic city... Over the years, Emirates has responded to growing travel demand with agility...”

On March 26th, passengers flying between Sydney and Dubai can enjoy Australian-inspired meals onboard in celebration of this milestone. Currently operating 77 weekly return services across Australia’s major cities, Emirates remains committed to enhancing connectivity between Australia and global destinations while facilitating cargo operations crucial for investment flows under the CEPA agreement.
