American Airlines has recognized Medal of Honor recipients through the Valor Tour, coinciding with the National Medal of Honor Day on March 25. The airline organized a chartered flight from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to Fort Cavazos and Joint Base Andrews, transporting six Medal of Honor recipients and special guests.

During their visit to the bases, the honorees were warmly welcomed, participated in a re-enlistment ceremony, engaged with active-duty service members, shared insights about the values represented by the medal, and promoted the opening of the National Medal of Honor Museum.

The museum opened on March 25 in Arlington, Texas. It is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the legacy of both the Medal of Honor and its recipients.

American Airlines also unveiled 'Flagship Valor,' an Airbus A321ceo aircraft dedicated to honoring these heroes. The plane's livery depicts major military conflicts and characteristics associated with Medal of Honor recipients. Passengers can access information about these stories via QR codes onboard.

In addition to this initiative, American Airlines donated $1 million in air miles to support funding for the new museum.

Other airlines have similarly honored veterans through special liveries. Delta Air Lines features a 'Spirit of Freedom' sticker on a Boeing 757-200. Alaska Airlines has four aircraft known as ‘Honoring Those Who Serve.’ Southwest Airlines introduced 'Freedom One,' a Boeing 737-800 with a livery marking its 50th anniversary while paying tribute to national heroes.
