ITA Airways has issued guidelines for passengers regarding hand baggage and checked luggage. The airline specifies that hand baggage must not exceed 8 kg in weight and should fit within dimensions of 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm, including handles, side pockets, and wheels.

Passengers are advised to verify the size and weight of their hand baggage with ITA Airways ground personnel or use the baggage measurers available near check-in desks before proceeding to the boarding gate. Baggage not meeting these criteria may be refused on board.

For small luggage measuring no more than 36 cm x 45 cm x 20 cm, an "Under the seat" label will be provided by ground staff for all domestic and international flights operated by ITA SpA. In cases of high load factors, hand baggage might be collected at the boarding gate to be stored in the hold. This does not apply to intercontinental flights.

Passengers are reminded that specific restrictions apply to certain items due to safety regulations. Hoverboards and similar devices powered by lithium batteries are not accepted as either checked or carry-on baggage. Items such as scissors, pocket knives, and certain tools are prohibited in the cabin. Electronic smoking devices cannot be used on board, while lighters are only allowed on one's person.

The European Commission has reinstated a limit on liquids carried in hand luggage at Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino airports since September 1st, 2024. Liquids must be in containers of no more than 100 ml each unless traveling from airports with advanced screening technology where they can remain in carry-on bags during screening.

Strict veterinary controls govern animal-derived foodstuffs brought into the EU due to potential disease risks. Travelers from specific regions may carry small amounts for personal use without official checks.

For code-share flights, the operating carrier's baggage policy applies throughout if entirely operated by them. For connecting flights with different carriers, passengers should contact customer service for detailed policies.
