The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, a well-known beachfront resort on the island of Maui, has announced a reduction in the number of points required for award nights. Previously categorized as a Category 7 hotel, requiring 30,000 points for a standard award night, it has now been reclassified to Category 6. This change means that standard nights are available for 25,000 World of Hyatt points, with off-peak dates offering stays for as little as 21,000 points.

Located on Kaanapali Beach, the Hyatt Regency Maui is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year. The resort underwent a significant renovation in 2021, which included updates to all 810 rooms and suites with Hawaiian-inspired designs and spacious lanais.

The resort offers six tropical pools, including one with a 150-foot waterslide. Children can enjoy an interactive pool area and a rope bridge over the pools. Guests can also reserve oceanfront cabanas or use free backpack beach chair loaners.

The spa provides various treatments such as deep tissue massages and HydraFacials. Guests interested in local culture can participate in activities like a Maui poke history class or visit Haleakala National Park.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by the lobby at 9:30 each morning to learn about the African penguins residing at the hotel. Additionally, the Nashville Nights series will bring country songwriters like David Nail and Eric Paslay to perform throughout the year.

Dining options include ten bars and restaurants across the resort. These range from breakfast buffets at Swan Court Breakfast to prime cuts at Son'z Steakhouse and sushi at Japengo. A Hawaiian-themed dinner experience is available through Drums of the Pacific Lu'au.

As part of its new Category 6 classification under World of Hyatt's award chart, rates are set at:

- Off-peak: 21,000 points

- Standard: 25,000 points

- Peak: 29,000 points

Off-peak rates are particularly available in September and early December when visitor numbers tend to be lower.

Guests can earn World of Hyatt bonus points through credit card offers such as the World of Hyatt Credit Card or Chase Sapphire Preferred Card. These cards offer opportunities to accumulate bonus points that can be used towards stays at this Maui resort or transferred to other airlines and hotels.
