Delta Air Lines is commemorating its 100th anniversary and among the initiatives to mark this milestone is the renovation of the Delta Flight Museum. Located in Delta’s original 1940s-era aircraft hangars in Atlanta, the museum will reopen to the public on April 7 with refreshed exhibits. The main highlight is the new ‘Delta Connects You’ experience featuring an immersive extended reality stage. This aims to showcase Delta’s role in connecting diverse cultures and ideas.

“The Delta Flight Museum is widely known to our employees and the community as Delta’s true home. While the museum always offered a close-up look at our aircraft and artifacts, the newly reimagined experience and interactive exhibits allow us to truly showcase the humanity of Delta and the people who made it all possible,” said Kelley Moore, Executive Director of Delta Flight Museum.

The renovation, taking over a year to complete, rejuvenated two hangars. Funding was provided by the Delta Air Lines Foundation, contributions from employees, retirees, and friends of the museum. The design firm Imagine collaborated in creating the space, adding modern touches and enhancing visitor experience.

Delta has rebranded Hangar 1 as the Legacy Hangar, focusing on the airline’s history with new spaces for children and events. Hangar 2, now the Spirit Hangar, offers insights from the jet age from the 1960s to present. Marie Force, Director of Archives, remarked, “An archivist is a hub of connections and at Delta, I am part of connecting people to our ‘Delta Difference’ culture. Preserving and sharing Delta’s history is critical – not just to honor our past but to inspire the future of aviation professionals.”

Visitors can explore the museum daily from 09:00 to 15:00 starting April 7.
