FedEx, het grootste exprestransportbedrijf ter wereld, heeft een nieuwe locatie in Amsterdam geopend, waarmee het zijn logistieke capaciteit in Nederland verder uitbreidt. Deze faciliteit, strategisch gelegen bij Schiphol Airport, integreert met FedEx's Europese wegennet via de hub in Duiven. Dit biedt vervoersverbindingen naar 45 Europese markten.

De nieuwe site verdubbelt de vorige magazijnoppervlakte naar 16.000 vierkante meter. De sorteercapaciteit is verdrievoudigd naar 4.500 pakketten per uur. Dit versnelt het proces en vermindert de doorlooptijden, wat resulteert in snellere levering voor klanten. Ongeveer vijftig magazijnmedewerkers gebruiken geavanceerde technologieën om pakketten efficiënt te sorteren. Ook zijn er voorzieningen voor 290 kantoormedewerkers.

Daarnaast verbetert de nieuwe faciliteit de ergonomie voor werknemers, met comfortabele werkplekken en verbeterde klimaatregeling. FedEx heeft ergonomische werkplekken, betere klimaatregeling en LED-verlichting in het ontwerp geïntegreerd. "Onze nieuwe faciliteit in Amsterdam is een cruciaal onderdeel van onze strategie voor de optimalisatie van de first en last mile in Nederland," zegt Marius Penninks van FedEx Europe. Hij onderstreept dat de faciliteit ervoor zorgt dat "al onze collega's comfortabel en veilig werken."

FedEx onderstreept zijn commitment aan duurzaamheid, met een doel om tegen 2040 CO2-neutraal te zijn. De locatie heeft twintig laadpunten voor elektrische voertuigen. Er zijn plannen om dit verder uit te breiden in de toekomst.
