In an announcement that has captured attention among rewards enthusiasts, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card has introduced a significant incentive for new applicants. The offer allows cardholders to earn 100,000 bonus points by spending $5,000 within the first three months of account opening. The Points Guy (TPG) places the value of these points at more than $2,000 according to April 2025 metrics.

"As you may well have seen, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card just launched an offer that the points and miles world is going a bit bananas over," notes a recent report by TPG.

The new proposition elevates the standard offering by an additional 40,000 points, creating a considerable opportunity for those interested. TPG’s evaluation demonstrates the potential for these points to be converted into significant travel and accommodation benefits when used with partners like World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan.

"It's common to see cobranded cards from programs like Hilton Honors and IHG One Rewards pass the six-figure mark. But those currencies are worth significantly less on a per-point basis," the report highlighted.

The current offer matches the previous high seen only once before in the summer of 2021. During that period, the same bonus was available but remained only for a limited time.

"The last time was nearly four years ago — as the world was coming out of the depths of the pandemic," TPG notes, emphasizing the rarity of such an offer.

Despite a $95 annual fee and a spending requirement of $5,000, the Sapphire Preferred offer is considered outstanding, especially considering the average American household expenditure metrics. The program’s simplicity and value are underscored by a $50 statement credit for hotel purchases via Chase Travel, adding to its appeal.

"The only ongoing perk you really need to track on the card is a $50 annual statement credit for hotel purchases made through Chase Travel℠," states the report.

While the bonus represents a fixed cash value when used through the Chase Travel portal, its true potential lies in its transferability to 11 airline and three hotel currencies. Real-world examples from TPG illustrate the possible lucrative outcomes, such as converting points for premium class flights or luxury accommodation.

In conclusion, the decision to label the 100,000-point offer as one of the best seen in recent history seems justified. "So, if you're eligible to earn the 100,000 bonus points and are ready to add to your points piggy bank, this is the moment you've been waiting for," encourages the announcement.
