Delta Air Lines has decided to discontinue its direct flights from Orlando International Airport to London Heathrow Airport after just one winter season of operation. The nondisclosure of the reasoning behind this suspension leaves questions unanswered, and Simple Flying has reached out to the carrier for further comments.

Aviation data from Cirium reveals that the Atlanta-based carrier planned to operate four weekly flights between Orlando and London Heathrow, potentially contributing almost 5,000 monthly seats in each direction. The route was launched in October 2024 and was the airline’s sole non-stop service from Florida to the UK, complementing Delta's broader network, which included routes from Orlando to Amsterdam and from Tampa to Amsterdam.

The seasonal nature of Delta's service saw operations conclude on March 29, 2025, with flights run by the Airbus A330neo. These aircraft formed part of the service provided in partnership with Virgin Atlantic, who also operates its own year-round non-stop service between Orlando and London Heathrow. Virgin Atlantic plans to increase its offering to 10 weekly flights from November 2025 after a precedent of scheduling up to 14 weekly flights.

British Airways and Norse Atlantic Airways maintain their services between Orlando and London Gatwick. British Airways will fly the route seven times a week while Norse Atlantic will provide three weekly flights, both beginning November 2025. These transatlantic routes reflect a broader trend with airlines either reducing frequencies or suspending certain services, as seen with Norse Atlantic's suspension of their route from London Gatwick to Las Vegas.
