Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) is expanding its sustainable logistics efforts in India by adding more electric vehicles to its last-mile delivery fleet in Mumbai. The deployment includes 13 TATA Ace electric vehicles, which increases the total number of electric vehicles in operation across major Indian cities like Delhi and Bengaluru to 59. This move is part of FedEx's broader initiative to achieve carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040.

"FedEx was the first global delivery company to introduce hybrid-electric vehicles back in 2003, and our journey with battery-powered vehicles began even earlier in 1994," said Suvendu Choudhury, Vice President of Operations and Planning and Engineering, India, FedEx. "Building on this legacy, we’re proud to do our part in reducing emissions and advancing sustainable logistics in India. Our phased, pragmatic approach to fleet electrification ensures we continue to deliver for our customers while minimizing our carbon footprint."

The new electric vehicles, which feature co-branding with the Chennai Super Kings, highlight a collaboration that integrates sustainability with brand synergy. FedEx, as an Official Sponsor of the Chennai Super Kings, views this initiative as a connection between two entities known for speed, precision, and excellence. It also reinforces the company's investment in the Indian market.

Electric vehicles are reshaping logistics by offering a clean and efficient solution for last-mile deliveries. Besides reducing carbon emissions and air pollution, they are in line with the increasing consumer preference for sustainable practices. Research commissioned by FedEx indicates that 90% of Indian consumers favor businesses that prioritize sustainability. By expanding its EV fleet, FedEx aims to meet these expectations while reducing environmental impact and supporting India's supply chain transformation.
