Frontier Airlines, an ultra-low-cost carrier based in Denver, has announced a new partnership with Italian seat manufacturer Geven. The collaboration aims to introduce Frontier’s first premium seating, set to roll out by late 2025. Frontier has opted for Geven’s "Comoda" seat design, planning a two-by-two configuration for the front two rows on each aircraft.

Gilles Bussutil, Frontier’s vice president of inflight experience, emphasized the ambition to offer comfort at affordable prices. "The goal was to design a seat that blends exceptional comfort, luxury and space, and making it available at Frontier's trademark low prices," said Bussutil at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

While the seats are being made to align with Frontier’s aesthetic, the airline is still deciding specific features, including potential leg rests and privacy wings. "We're still finalizing all the trim and finishes of the seat, so, more designs will be provided a little bit later on," explained Bussutil.

Plans for services accompanying these new seats, historically not included with fare, remain under discussion. "There's still discussion on what that service will look like for our customers," said Bussutil.

The rollout of these seats is planned to be "aggressive," with most of the fleet expected to be updated by year's end due to a quick retrofit process previously mentioned by CEO Barry Biffle.

Moreover, Frontier’s alliance with Geven marks a first in U.S. aviation. Alberto Veneruso, Geven’s managing director, spoke to this international partnership, stating, "One from Colorado, and one from Napoli."

As part of the new premium offering, Frontier has seen increased interest in its loyalty program and credit card offerings. The airline also plans to introduce a new companion pass for elite members.
