Changes are coming to ANA Mileage Club, the loyalty program of All Nippon Airways, which could impact frequent flyers. Starting in June, the program will introduce new redemption options, including the ability to redeem miles for one-way flights. However, it will also bring increases in award rates for many international fares and the discontinuation of the Round the World tickets.

Mileage Club members will be able to book one-way award flights beginning June 24, with rates set at half of a round-trip flight. ANA has provided an award chart categorized by seasons: low, regular, and high. Economy and business class award rates vary by geography and seasonality. For example, flying from North America to Japan will require between 20,000 to 36,000 miles for economy class, and 50,000 to 82,500 miles for business class, depending on the season.

It's important for members to note that award seats, especially premium ones, can be scarce. Transferring points from American Express Membership Rewards could take up to 48 hours, risking availability. Additionally, ANA imposes significant fees on award flights with partners, such as a $400 fee on an economy flight between New York and Geneva operated by Swiss and Singapore Airlines.

While one-way award flights open new possibilities, they coincide with a devaluation of award charts. High-season fares for flights between North America and Japan are set to increase across all classes, continuing a trend from a previous devaluation last year. Business-class fares, for instance, are expected to climb from 110,000 miles to 165,000 miles for a round-trip.

The program will also end the issuance of Round the World tickets as of June 24. These popular tickets allowed members to book up to 12 flights with 8 stopovers on Star Alliance airlines. Members have until June 23 to book these tickets for future use.

Flight redemptions between North America and Oceania will also face increases, mainly during high season. However, redemption rates still compare favorably against competitors that use dynamic pricing models.

Members looking to take advantage of current award rates are encouraged to book before the June changes. Transferable rewards through programs like Virgin Atlantic's Flying Club could be preferable for more flexible redemptions.

With these upcoming changes, ANA Mileage Club members have new opportunities with one-way rewards but must also adapt to increased international award rates. Transferring points through American Express could help members pursuing one-way awards, which become bookable on June 24.
