Cathay has launched a new subsidiary, Cathay Technologies, aiming to enhance the aviation industry's digital solutions. For nearly 80 years, Cathay has built expertise in developing innovative digital solutions to enhance the experience, safety, and sustainability in aviation. Cathay Technologies will commercialize these products for wider market access.

Lawrence Fong, Cathay's Director of Digital and IT, stated, "Cathay’s vision is to transform into a digital leader famous for our strong digital culture and capabilities, whilst keeping our people and customers at the heart of how we use technology. We are constantly seeking innovative ways to enhance our services and products, staying ahead of the curve and setting new industry standards."

He added, "We see Cathay Technologies as an extension of Cathay’s commitment to excellence, supported by our rich history and extensive understanding of the aviation industry, allowing us to provide unparalleled service and expertise to our solutions."

Cathay Technologies' key product, the Electronic Flight Folder (EFF), developed in 2019, offers pilots an optimized solution for accessing flight information, leading to cost savings and efficient workflow. Currently used by pilots in Cathay's airlines, the EFF will now be commercialized.

The new subsidiary has also partnered with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (HKSTP) under the Co-Acceleration Programme Fund. This move is aimed at supporting startups through investment and strategic advice.

Navin Chellaram, Cathay General Manager of Digital Ventures and CEO of Cathay Technologies, expressed their commitment: "Cathay has a long-standing commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s technology ecosystem and fostering innovation and economic growth in the wider Greater Bay Area, including through our signature Cathay Hackathon and our successful graduate trainee programme."
