Southwest Airlines has expanded its footprint in the Denver Metropolitan Area with the opening of a new training facility near Denver International Airport. The unveiling took place on April 2 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from Colorado Aerotropolis, Adams County, and other local authorities.

Located in Aurora adjacent to the JAG Logistics Center, the new Southwest Airlines University facility includes over 23,000 square feet of learning space. According to Southwest Airlines, there is potential for a 12,000-square-foot expansion.

Bobby Loeb, Southwest Airlines' Vice President, expressed enthusiasm for the facility's opening. "Equipping our employees to do their jobs safely while delivering world-class hospitality is our top priority," said Loeb. He highlighted the importance of partnerships and investment in advanced training tools and spaces, emphasizing their role in maintaining safety and community connections in Denver.

The facility is a collaborative effort by stakeholders in Adams County alongside cities like Aurora, Brighton, Commerce City, and Thornton. The initiative aims to boost investment and growth in the commercial aviation industry, with a specific focus on safety.

Although pilots for Southwest Airlines are trained primarily at their Dallas-based Corporate Campus, this new training hub will serve other airport employees. Southwest Airlines University, a corporate learning organization with 60,000 enrolled employees, offers a comprehensive career development program, including remote and in-person training courses.
