American Airlines is set to introduce a new flight route to Puerto Escondido, Mexico. The service, launching on December 3, 2025, will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). This move will mark Puerto Escondido as the airline's 30th Mexican destination, surpassing all other U.S. airlines in the number of destinations within the country.

The flights will be handled by Envoy Air, a subsidiary of American Airlines, using the Embraer E175 aircraft configured with 12 first-class seats, 20 Main Cabin Extra seats, and 44 standard economy seats. Puerto Escondido is situated on the Oaxacan coast, known for its beaches and nightlife, appealing to travelers seeking a warm getaway.

Jose Freig, American's vice president of international, commented on the expansion: "With the announcement of American's 30th destination in Mexico — Puerto Escondido — we further solidify our position as the leading U.S. airline in the country with an operation and network that is unmatched."

The strategic move occurs shortly after United Airlines began offering weekly flights to Puerto Escondido. United's initial announcement came last October, giving them temporary exclusivity in this market until American's service starts. Analysts note that it is common for airlines to emulate their competitors' successful routes, and this situation appears to align with such practices.

Economic considerations suggest that the introduction of American’s flights may lead to competitive pricing and increased seat availability, potentially benefiting consumers planning to travel to this Mexican destination.
