Emirates Airlines has announced the expansion of its retrofitted A380 aircraft to more destinations, beginning with Manchester on June 6 and Milan on July 1. The announcement was made in a post on X on April 9.

According to Emirates, the A380 retrofit program is part of a $2 billion cabin modernization initiative aimed at enhancing the passenger experience on long-haul routes. The project includes new interiors across First, Business, and Economy Class, and introduces Emirates’ Premium Economy product. The investment reflects the airline’s continued focus on service excellence and maintaining a competitive edge in global aviation.

The retrofitted A380 features 56 Premium Economy seats with up to 40 inches of pitch, cream-colored leather upholstery, and advanced adjustable headrests. Emirates has reported strong demand for the new cabin class, with customers praising its spacious design and enhanced meal service. As of early 2025, Premium Economy is planned to be available on flights to 42 cities worldwide.

Emirates is conducting the retrofit work at its dedicated Engineering Centre in Dubai, where each A380 upgrade takes approximately 16 days. According to aviation outlet Simple Flying, this is the largest known retrofit project in commercial aviation, with 120 aircraft (67 A380s and 53 Boeing 777s) scheduled for modernization. The airline has already deployed retrofitted aircraft on routes including New York JFK, London Heathrow, and Sydney.

Emirates is the flagship airline of Dubai, founded in 1985 and part of The Emirates Group, which is owned by the Investment Corporation of Dubai. It operates one of the youngest wide-body fleets in the world, serving over 140 destinations across six continents. The airline is recognized globally for its premium in-flight services, including the industry-leading A380 experience.
