Sheila Leen, a nurse at O'Hare Airport's Flying Food Group Health Clinic, said that both Rush and Flying Food Group support employees' well-being through stress management, inclusive care, and personalized health resources. She made these remarks to Sky Industry News on April 15.
"The staff of the Rush College of Nursing value the formation of a therapeutic, confidential, and trusting relationship with our clients," said Leen. "FFG employees have noted stressors of personal relationships, familial responsibilities, finances, and navigation of the US healthcare system. We employ active listening and consider the impacts of external factors on mental and physical health in every employee interaction."
According to an announcement flyer, Rush College of Nursing hosted a wellness event on April 8 focused on stress management, with particular attention to supporting recently immigrated employees. Organizers noted an increase in stress-related symptoms among workers who had left family behind to start new lives. Drawing on mental health experts from its academic health system, the college aimed to provide culturally sensitive tools to reduce stress and promote emotional well-being.
