Mexico's low-cost airline Viva has introduced a new international flight route connecting Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) with Mexico City's Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA). The service, announced on April 15, 2025, will begin operations on November 13, running three times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

Flights will leave Mexico City at 6:10 PM, reaching Chicago at 10:15 PM, with the return journey departing at 11:45 PM and arriving back in Mexico City by 4:00 AM. This addition furthers Viva's strategy to expand in the U.S., specifically catering to the Midwest, and complements their existing flights from Chicago to León, Guadalajara, Mexico City, Morelia, and Monterrey.

Jamie L. Rhee, Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Aviation, welcomed the new service, stating, “On behalf of Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Chicago Department of Aviation is proud to welcome Viva's new seasonal service between O’Hare International Airport and Felipe Ángeles International Airport, serving Greater Mexico City.” She emphasized that the new route enhances access between Chicago and Mexico, celebrating the cultural and economic ties between the two regions.

Javier Suárez, Viva's Executive Vice President of Strategy, Planning & Alliances, expressed excitement about the launch. “We are thrilled to launch our new route from Chicago to the brand-new Mexico City International Airport,” he said. Suárez highlighted Viva's competitive edge with low fares and reliable service, noting that the airline now offers non-stop flights from Chicago to both Mexico City airports, as well as to Monterrey, Morelia, Guadalajara, and León.

Passengers from Chicago flying to Mexico City can connect to over 30 domestic and international destinations via Viva at AIFA. Viva serves as the main operator at AIFA, with 38 routes planned by the end of 2025. Travelers will use Viva's fleet of 93 A320 and A321 aircraft.

Tickets are available on Viva Aerobus's official website, their app, or through their toll-free call center.
