Britain's airports are preparing for an influx of travelers during the Easter holiday weekend. As the United Kingdom celebrates public holidays on Friday and the following Monday, over 11,000 flights are slated to depart from UK airports. According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, there are plans for 11,278 flights from Friday, April 18, to Sunday, April 21.

“Indeed, current scheduling data made available by Cirium, an aviation analytics company, shows that more than 11,000 flights are set to depart from airports in the UK,” reported Cirium. Despite representing a 6% increase in flights compared to the previous Easter, the 2025 Easter weekend is not as significant as 2019, which saw 11,743 departures.

Among airports, London Heathrow is expected to be the busiest, with 2,680 scheduled flights, amounting to approximately 23.8% of total UK traffic. London Gatwick, Manchester, and London Stansted also report a high volume of travelers. “Heathrow has the most Dublin-bound departures, with 65,” according to Cirium, with Dublin being the primary international destination for UK departures.

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is another major destination, with 421 services planned from the UK. Spain’s popular cities such as Malaga, Alicante, and Palma de Mallorca remain attractive for holidaymakers during this period.

“Last year’s figures show traffic at UK airports in terms of scheduled departures is up by a factor of 6% year-on-year,” Cirium noted, reflecting trends of industry recovery post the pandemic.

UK airports are thus bracing for a busy Easter weekend, as vacationers and families take advantage of consecutive public holidays to travel abroad or visit domestic locations.
