Federal Express Corporation, commonly known as FedEx, has launched a new direct flight service connecting Singapore to Anchorage, USA. This development positions FedEx as the sole logistics provider with a non-stop route linking Singapore directly with the continental United States.

The service aims to bolster supply chain efficiency for key industries like aerospace, healthcare, industrial, high-tech, and semiconducting materials across Southeast Asia, benefiting countries such as Malaysia. The service operates six times a week with a dedicated Boeing 777 freighter departing from the FedEx South Pacific Regional Hub at Singapore's Changi Airport. This setup facilitates the consolidation of shipments from Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before they are flown directly to the U.S. The return leg provides a direct flight back from Anchorage to Singapore once weekly, with plans to increase to five weekly flights by summer.

The enhanced connectivity is expected to speed up transit times, allowing shipments from Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand picked up on Saturdays to arrive in the U.S. by the following Monday. This new direct path supports trade between Southeast Asia and the U.S., which is a vital trading corridor driven by sectors like e-commerce, high-tech electronics, and manufactured goods.

Tien Long Woon, Managing Director of FedEx Malaysia, expressed confidence in the support this service brings to companies. He stated, “With this new service, FedEx reaffirms its dedication to supporting Malaysian businesses in their pursuit of global success. By providing a more reliable link to the U.S., we are empowering businesses in key hubs like Kuala Lumpur and Penang to navigate the complexities of international trade with confidence.” He added that FedEx is committed to offering innovative logistics solutions to keep Malaysian businesses competitive in the global market.
