Etihad Airways has announced its support for DigiYatra, an Indian government platform that facilitates contactless travel through facial recognition technology. This initiative is now operational at 17 domestic airports across India.

DigiYatra is part of an Indian government effort to enhance air travel efficiency by enabling paperless and contactless passenger movement. According to the National Portal of India, this initiative aligns with the prime minister’s vision of transforming the nation into a digitally empowered society. The platform allows for digital processing of passengers at airports, thereby streamlining the travel experience.

According to Etihad Airways, their support for DigiYatra enables passengers to travel seamlessly through airports in cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The Economic Times reports that DigiYatra's facial recognition technology is now available at several Indian airports, placing India alongside international hubs like Heathrow and Atlanta. This technology has been recognized for its potential to significantly reduce passenger processing time.
