Delta Air Lines and Uber's new partnership is set to launch, allowing customers to earn Delta SkyMiles through specific Uber services. The collaboration was initially announced at the start of the year and goes live on April 24.

Delta passengers and Uber users can now earn SkyMiles on standard rides to and from airports, pre-reserved rides, premium trips, and Uber Eats deliveries. "For most of the general public, the Delta-Uber partnership launches April 24," said Sean Cudahy from The Points Guy.

Travelers eager to start earning SkyMiles had the chance to join a waitlist prior to the launch. Those who joined by April 2 can already benefit from the program. Customers must link their SkyMiles and Uber accounts through delta.com/uber to begin earning miles according to different categories.

The collaboration officially began in January, announced during a keynote event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The deal ends Delta's previous collaboration with Lyft, another ride-hailing service.

The partnership is part of Delta’s broader strategy to enhance its services via collaborations. In the near future, Delta plans to offer ride reservations through its app and inflight Wi-Fi service.

To maximize the benefits of the new partnership, experts suggest using credit cards that offer additional mile rewards on ride-hailing services or Delta purchases. Various cards like American Express and Capital One offer different perks, aligning with the customer's preferences and spending habits.
