Alaska Airlines has announced an expansion in its services from San Diego, increasing flight frequencies by 30% and introducing new nonstop routes. The updated schedule, which includes more convenient travel options, will feature three new nonstop routes slated for August 20 to Phoenix, and October 4 to Chicago O’Hare and Denver, each with daily departures.

In addition to these new routes, Alaska Airlines plans to boost the number of flights on some of its existing routes by more than 50%. By October 26, passengers will have access to six daily flights to Las Vegas, Sacramento, and San Jose, and three daily flights to Salt Lake City. Tickets for these new routes are already available for purchase, with the expanded schedule accessible for booking beginning this weekend.

The collaboration between Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines has contributed to this expansion, enabling the service of 44 nonstop destinations from San Diego, which is the highest number of direct connections from this airport. This includes connections to various locations in California, the East Coast, and destinations such as Mexico and Hawaii.

"We’re proud to already serve San Diego and the surrounding region with the most nonstop destinations from San Diego. These exciting new additions to our network further expand our ability to take San Diegans directly to where they want to go, better than any other airline, with our premium onboard service and global loyalty program," stated Ben Minicucci, CEO at Alaska Air Group.

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority is also pleased with these developments. "We are very pleased that Alaska Airlines is continuing to grow its service from San Diego. The timing is perfect for adding new routes and increasing frequency to existing flights. We look forward to welcoming both leisure and business visitors to our year-round sunny climate while providing more flights from SAN to destinations across the country," noted Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of the authority.

In recent efforts to enhance service, Alaska Airlines has initiated a direct flight between San Diego and Washington Reagan National, a service unoffered by any previous airline from San Diego. Additionally, new members of the Mileage Plan loyalty program will receive introductory discounts on their next flights.

Alaska Airlines' extended network provides customers with various benefits including the ability to earn and redeem miles, access to expanded alliances, and enhanced inflight comfort. The company continues to maintain a focus on safety, customer care, and sustainability, with shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker ALK.
