Éric Trappier Dassault Aviation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer | Dassault Aviation

Dassault Aviation, a French aerospace company, has a legacy of more than a century in manufacturing both military and business jets. Known for the Falcon series, Dassault has integrated advanced technology from military aircraft into business aviation, creating jets with a focus on innovation and luxury. The series started with Marcel Dassault's vision and led to the first Falcon flight over 60 years ago. Today, 2,100 Falcon jets are operational in 90 countries.

"Dassault Aviation has created more than 100 prototypes in the last century and has delivered over 10,000 aircraft to 90 countries," the company states. With a workforce of approximately 14,600 employees, most based in France, Dassault maintains a strong global presence supported by a network of service facilities.

Marcel Dassault envisioned technologically superior aircraft with an elegant design. This vision became a reality starting with the Mystère 20, which evolved into the Dassault Falcon 20 for the U.S. market with its General Electric CF700 engines. It was well-received, marking Dassault's entry into business aviation.

In subsequent years, Dassault introduced various models, including the Falcon 10 in 1970, enhancing speed and efficiency. "A small and mighty private jet, it was the fastest in its class yet is still in demand," the company adds.

The Falcon series expanded with the Falcon 50 in 1976, featuring a trijet configuration and a supercritical wing to improve performance and range. This innovation helped solidify Dassault's standing in the market, leading to the 1984 introduction of the Falcon 900, incorporating CAD for precision and efficiency.

Dassault's focus on innovation continued into the 1990s with the Falcon 2000, emphasizing efficiency and comfort. By the 2000s, the Falcon 7X and later models further advanced digital fly-by-wire controls and aircraft design.

"Dassault Aviation is the only European company to produce both military aircraft and business jets," they highlight, with a strong emphasis on research and development, and efforts towards reducing CO2 emissions with Sustainable Aviation Fuel compatibility.

Currently, the company is working on the Falcon 10X, aiming for delivery in 2027 despite delays. This model will push the boundaries of luxury and functionality with its spacious design and long-range capability.

Dassault chairman and CEO Éric Trappier, at the helm since 2013, continues to promote a culture of innovation, emphasizing sustainable practices while integrating artificial intelligence systems. Dassault's legacy of integrating military technology into business jets, combined with customer accountability and fuel efficiency, ensures their position as a leader in the field.

The Falcon jet family continues its developments with current manufacturing including models like the Falcon 10X slated for future release.
