Federal Express Corporation, the global leader in express transportation, has announced the strengthening of its transatlantic air network. The company will introduce a nonstop flight for cargo between Liège and Memphis, USA. As of April 28, the frequency on this route has increased from five to eight flights per week, utilizing a Boeing 777 that can carry up to 150,000 pounds of cargo per flight.
Over recent years, Liège has developed into a dedicated intercontinental cargo hub within FedEx's air network. This is part of the company's global strategy to redesign its air network to improve density and network utilization. The increased frequency enhances the role of Liège in FedEx's global network and aligns with its strategic focus on expanding in the global air freight market.
The Liège-Memphis route has been operational since April 2017. During this time, FedEx has also introduced new nonstop transatlantic routes from Liège to Indianapolis and Oakland. Together, these connections bolster the hub's significance as a link between Europe and global markets.
