Federal Express Corporation, conocida como FedEx, ha anunciado el fortalecimiento de su red transatlántica con un vuelo adicional de carga entre Lieja, Bélgica, y Memphis, Estados Unidos. Esta iniciativa busca fortalecer su compromiso con Valonia y expandir su centro de carga intercontinental en Lieja, una instalación que está ganando importancia en las operaciones globales de la empresa.

Desde el 28 de abril, la frecuencia de la ruta entre Lieja y Memphis ha aumentado, pasando de cinco a ocho veces por semana. Este servicio emplea un Boeing 777 Freighter, un avión capaz de transportar hasta 68.000 kilos de carga por vuelo.

FedEx ha reposicionado a Lieja en su red aérea como un centro intercontinental, como parte de su estrategia para reorganizar y optimizar su red de rutas aéreas. Este aumento de frecuencia responde al foco de FedEx en el crecimiento dentro del mercado global de carga aérea, estimado en 80.000 millones de dólares.

El servicio de FedEx entre Lieja y Memphis comenzó en abril de 2017 y desde entonces ha ampliado su oferta desde Lieja a otras ciudades estadounidenses como Indianápolis y Oakland. Estas rutas fortalecen la posición del hub de Lieja como un enlace clave entre Europa y el resto del mundo.
