Air India has announced the launch of daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Tokyo Haneda, commencing on June 15, 2025.

According to a press release on Air India's official website, the airline will increase its current four-times-weekly frequency to a daily service. The route will be operated using the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which offers passengers a choice between 18 Business Class flatbeds and 238 Economy seats. This expansion aims to strengthen air connectivity between India and Japan, supporting both tourism and business travel.

As reported by The Economic Times, Air India's decision to operate from Tokyo's Haneda Airport instead of Narita Airport significantly reduces ground commute time for travelers. Haneda is located approximately 18 kilometers from central Tokyo, allowing access to the city in under 30 minutes by train or car, compared to over an hour from Narita. This operational shift aligns with a broader strategy to enhance passenger convenience and optimize transit times.

According to Travel and Tour World, Air India has expanded its codeshare agreement with All Nippon Airways (ANA), enabling travelers to connect from Tokyo Haneda to six major Japanese cities including Osaka, Sapporo, and Hiroshima. The codeshare arrangement allows for single-ticket bookings with baggage checked through to final destinations, improving efficiency and reducing hassle for travelers. The partnership supports seamless interconnectivity for both inbound and outbound passengers between India and regional Japan.

Air India is headquartered in New Delhi and serves as India's national flag carrier. It operates a fleet that includes wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, used for many of its long-haul international routes. As a Star Alliance member undergoing transformation under the Vihaan.AI initiative, Air India is focused on global expansion and service modernization.
