Federal Express Corporation, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and the largest express transportation company globally, is preparing to transport 2.7 million pounds of fresh flowers from Colombia and Ecuador to North America for Mother's Day. This period marks one of the highest demand seasons annually.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Colombian floriculture sector ended 2024 with significant growth, reaching US$2.358 billion in exports and a 12% increase in transported weight compared to the previous year. The sector contributes 15% to the agricultural GDP and generates over 200 thousand jobs.

FedEx will enhance its services during this two-week season running from April to May. The company has implemented innovative solutions for temperature-sensitive shipments like FedEx International Priority DirectDistribution (IPD), ensuring delivery within 48 to 72 hours from Bogotá and Medellín. This service expands delivery options and strengthens solutions for shipping flowers and perishable goods, ensuring fresh flowers reach North America in under three days while covering 99% of destination addresses in the United States and Canada.

In recent years, FedEx has expanded its cold storage facilities in Bogotá and Medellín and modernized its air cargo center at Miami International Airport—the largest cold chain infrastructure in FedEx's global network—where over 90% of air-transported flowers enter the United States. These improvements help maintain flower freshness and quality throughout transportation.

Through these initiatives, FedEx reaffirms its commitment to supporting the growth and international recognition of Colombian and Ecuadorian flowers, contributing to regional economic development while celebrating Mother's Day with timely high-quality deliveries.
