As summer approaches, Delta Air Lines has launched the latest version of its Fly Delta app, version 7.0, designed to enhance the travel experience for its users. The update introduces several new features aimed at simplifying and empowering travelers during their journeys.

One of the key updates allows Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members to redeem Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates directly through the app, a feature previously available only on Delta's website. Starting June 1, Choice Benefit selection will also be exclusively accessible via the app for these members.

The Fly Delta app is widely used by SkyMiles Medallion Members, with more than 97% utilizing it to manage their travel experiences. Additionally, a new partnership with Uber enables users to earn miles on rides to and from airports in the U.S., as well as on premium rides and certain Uber Eats orders.

For iOS users, real-time flight updates will soon be available directly on their lock screens through Live Activities. This feature provides notifications about key events such as pre-boarding and boarding door closures. However, this update is limited to devices running iOS 16 or later.

Delta aims to improve communication with customers throughout the summer by providing more tailored notifications during travel disruptions. A self-service rebooking feature for standby passengers will be introduced in June, allowing customers greater flexibility during domestic travel disruptions.

Eric Phillips, SVP and Chief Digital Officer at Delta Air Lines, stated: "By knowing where our Members are headed, how they interact with us, and what they value most, we're able to offer choices and experiences that truly matter to them." He added that Delta plans to introduce AI-driven enhancements later this year to further elevate customer service.
