Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) hosted a live performance by Malian artist Vieux Farka Touré in Terminal 1 on May 9.

The LAX Presents program, an initiative by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), aims to enhance the passenger experience with live music performances. According to LAWA, the program features a diverse lineup of artists from various musical genres and cultural backgrounds, reflecting Los Angeles' rich artistic landscape. Performances are scheduled throughout the year in different terminals to offer travelers engaging cultural experiences during their time at the airport.

Touré performed on May 9 at 1 p.m. in Terminal 1 of LAX Airport. The performance was part of the LAX Presents series, which brings live music to travelers in the airport terminals. The announcement was made via LAX’s official X account, showcasing the airport's commitment to integrating cultural events into the travel experience.

Vieux Farka Touré, known as "The Hendrix of the Sahara," is celebrated for his mastery of the guitar and his fusion of traditional Malian music with contemporary styles. Born in Niafunké, Mali, in 1981, he is the son of legendary guitarist Ali Farka Touré. Touré has released several albums, including Les Racines, which explores the roots of Malian music, and has performed on international stages, gaining recognition for his contributions to world music.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), is one of the busiest airports in the United States. In 2023, LAX handled over 40 million passengers, making it a major hub for both domestic and international travel. The airport is known for its commitment to enhancing passenger experiences through various programs, including art installations and live performances.
