Alaska Airlines has announced a new international service between Seattle and Tokyo Narita, operated by Hawaiian Airlines' long-haul aircraft. This marks the beginning of daily nonstop flights between the two cities and a new era of widebody international flying for Alaska Airlines.

Ben Minicucci, CEO at Alaska Air Group, stated, "With the combination of Alaska and Hawaiian, we’re transforming Seattle into the West Coast’s new premier global gateway." The airline plans to serve at least 12 international destinations with widebody aircraft from Seattle by 2030.

The first two long-haul flights from Seattle will be to Tokyo Narita and Seoul Incheon. Flights to Seoul are set to begin on September 12. Joe Sprague, CEO at Hawaiian Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration: "Hawaiian has been serving the Tokyo market for nearly 15 years. We’re thrilled to open this new global gateway with Alaska."

Ryan Calkins, Port of Seattle Commissioner, commented on the significance of this development: "This is a monumental step for our hometown carrier, Alaska Airlines."

Initial flights between Seattle and Tokyo Narita will use A330s operated by Hawaiian Airlines. Passengers can choose from three classes of service: Business Class with full-flat seating, Extra Comfort, and Main Cabin. All passengers will have access to fast Wi-Fi provided by Starlink.

Alaska Air Group includes subsidiaries such as Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. The group operates hubs in several major cities across North America and is part of the oneworld Alliance.
