Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has announced that American Airlines will commence seasonal service from Los Angeles to Brisbane on December 5, 2025.

According to AeroRoutes, American Airlines plans to operate the new Los Angeles–Brisbane route using a 285-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The service is scheduled to run three times weekly from December 5, 2025, through January 30, 2026. Flights will depart LAX at 9:55 PM and arrive in Brisbane at 6:00 AM two days later. This development marks American Airlines' second route to Brisbane, complementing its existing service from Dallas/Fort Worth.

As reported by The Points Guy, this new route represents American Airlines' third overall connection to Australia, expanding its presence in the transpacific market. The addition of the Los Angeles–Brisbane service aims to provide travelers with more options and flexibility when flying between the U.S. West Coast and eastern Australia. The route is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity and meet growing demand for travel to Australia.

According to Simple Flying, tickets for the Los Angeles–Brisbane flights went on sale starting May 12, 2025. The launch of this route coincides with Qantas reducing its own service on the same route, indicating a strategic move by American Airlines to capture market share. The collaboration between American Airlines and Qantas through their joint venture allows for coordinated scheduling and pricing strategies.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), operated by Los Angeles World Airports, is recognized as the world's fifth busiest airport and the number one origin and destination airport globally. It handles an average of 1,500 daily flight operations. LAX offers 645 daily commercial flights to 162 destinations and 1,890 weekly international flights to 68 global destinations. The airport serves as a major hub for several airlines, including American Airlines, playing a critical role in connecting the U.S. to international markets.
